Work meaningfulness and performance among healthcare professionals: The role of professional respect and participative management

While the existing literature has accumulated much evidence for impact of formal organizational interventions on employees’ experience meaningfulness and outcomes, less is known about informal influences from coworkers. Drawing self-determination theory, we propose a multilevel model that explains how professional respect by coworkers unit participative management, individually jointly, influence work meaningfulness, which in turn associated with task performance service quality. We tested our using data 217 nurse–general practitioner dyads 27 primary healthcare units Lithuania. The results showed positively related to but management not. Furthermore, mediates relationship between outcomes. Finally, supporting synergistic perspective, impacts outcomes are stronger when high rather than low.
